You have a lot more information on the Ponton's than I have. Do you have them in your PAF?
I don't know if you have done any research between Aaron Crofts and the Jeptha Crofts but you hit right in the middle of what I have (marked with a star below). The William you found was christened 30 Apr 1744 along with his sister, Elizabeth. We descend through their younger brother, James (1750).
The line goes like this:
Eleazer (Ezra) Crofts (b. 1832) & Jane Ponton (b. 1826)
Aaron Crofts (1799) & Margaret (Martha) Curtis (1800)
James Crofts (1750) & his second wife Mary Loyd (1758)
*Jeptha Crofts (1714) & his wife.
possible wife - Susanna Crofts.
I have their children but couldn't find their marriage.
There is a Susanna Crofts who died in 1796 at the age of 85. She seems to fit in.
And I couldn't find a marriage of a Susanna to anyone else in the years she would have married.
More research needs to be done here if you want to work on it :)
