Together Forever
Arnold T. Barnes, died after a long illness on Feb. 1, 2007 at South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful where he told everyone that night he would be dancing with his sweetheart again.
He was born March 12, 1925 in Salt Lake City, UT. The son of Earl and Eliza Curtis Barnes. He married Joy Miller together they had two sons, Steven (Robyn) Barnes of Murray, UT and Curtis Barnes of Arizona. They later divorced.
He met LaRene Wood at a church dance and they later married on March 17, 1984 in The Jordan River Temple. He counted LaRene’s six children Debbie (Dennis) Iverson of West Jordan, UT, Allene Black of Spanish Fork, UT, Brent (Terrie) Black of Salem, UT, Fred (Connie) Black of Nephi, UT, Bevalene ( Paul) McIntyre of Lehi, UT and Russell (Jennifer) Black of Spanish Fork, UT as his own.
He graduated from East High in Salt Lake City, UT. He served in the Army during WWII. After the Army he worked for United Optical and later retired from Walcott Optical.
For several years he was with an all male chorus, Olympus Male Choir. They traveled to several locations to sing. His motorcycle was one of his other hobbies that he just loved.
He was an active member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints where he held several callings. He was also a temple worker at the Provo Temple with is wife LaRene.
Arnold was preceded in death by his beloved wife LaRene, his parents, brothers, Earl and Vernon and a grandson Lee Brady, Mitchell.
Survivors include his sons, step-children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and daughter in law Deanna Black of Salem, UT .
A graveside service was held on Feb. 2, 2007 at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
