Deceased Name: DEATH: BARBARA ANN HUTCHINGS OWENS
Barbara Ann Hutchings Owens, 46, died on Tuesday, July 17, 1990, at the University Hospital after a valiant struggle with cancer. Throughout her illness, she maintained her pleasant, optimistic and accepting attitude. She was a loving, caring wife and mother with a special feeling for relatives and friends.
Barbara was born in Nyack, New York on November 9, 1943, to Dr. Brian L. Hutchings and Ellen Anderson. She attended elementary and high school in Pearl River, New York and then received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and English from Brigham Young University.
Married Dr. Robert W. Owens in August 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Taugh school in Murray, Utah and Lincoln, Nebraska. Active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Relief Society, Primary and Sunday School organizations. She was an accomplished pianist and organist.
Preceded in death by son, Eric and survived by: Husband, Dr. Robert W. Owens, Salt Lake City; children, Jeffrey, Gregory, Jon, Marie, David and Jason; parents, Dr. Brian L. and Ellen A. Hutchings, Sandy, Utah; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Linda Hutchings, Las Vegas, Nevada; Dr. Stephen and Sherrie Hutchings, Copperas Cove, Texas; Dr. David and Sara Hutchings, Aurora, Colorado. Many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Saturday, July 21, at 11 a.m., in the Butler 28th Ward Chapel, Dover Drive (3650 East 7601 South). Friends may call Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Memorial Estates, 7800 So. (Bengal Blvd.) and 3115 East, and one hour prior to the services in the church. Interment will be in the Memorial Estates.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses in the Fourth Floor Medical Intensive Care Unit, University Hospital.
