Hi there,
My name is Peter Long, your sister Cathie said to write to you asking about John Long, who may be my GGGrand Father I am looking for.
The only thing I know of him was that he was a Vet, had a son Thomas Walter born around 1836-38 he gives 3 different ages in records we have found, but can not fined him being born in Glostershire, were he said he was born.
There is a Thomas born 1834 in Liccolnshire of which a James Warner registered him, being a relative.
We know that John had died before Thomas's wedding in 1859, and seeing a relative had registered him may be John had died before Thomas was born.
We have found a Thomas born 1836 in an Orphanage in Bristol Glostershire from the 1851 census and wondered if he may have been the 1834 Thomas and sent there?.
In the 1871 & 1881 census he has birth year as 1837, at his wedding its 1838.
Can you put some light on it please and help me, hoping to hear from you.
